Downtown
Peachtree Street hosts one of the South’s oldest private clubs, historic churches, and the site of the deadliest hotel fire in U.S. history. The Fairlie Poplar Historic District features late 19th and early 20th-century architecture, including Atlanta’s Flatiron Building, completed five years before New York’s. Centennial Olympic Park, built for the 1996 Olympics, spans 75 acres and anchors several major attractions such as The World of Coca-Cola, Georgia Aquarium, National Center for Civil Rights, and CNN. Mercedes Benz Stadium, home to the Falcons and Atlanta United, will host the 2026 World Cup games.

Midtown
Visit the Margaret Mitchell House, where the Pulitzer Prize-winning author lived and wrote Gone With The Wind. The Fox Theater and Georgian Terrace Hotel, a restored 1920s movie palace and one of Atlanta’s oldest hotels, hosted the film’s premiere gala. Ansley Park, Mitchell’s birthplace, offers winding roads and early 20th-century architecture. Piedmont Park, Atlanta’s equivalent of Central Park, includes almost 200 acres of green space and the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.

Buckhead
Tour Tuxedo Park to see some of Atlanta’s finest architecture, including the Georgia Governor’s Mansion. The Swan House, a 1920s estate featured in several films including The Hunger Games, is also located here.

Old Fourth Ward
Explore the Martin Luther King Jr. Historic Site, including his birthplace, church, and final resting place. The Jimmy Carter Presidential Library offers exhibits on the 39th President. Ponce City Market, formerly a 2 million square foot Sears distribution center, now contains restaurants, shops, apartments, and offices.

Eastside
Visit Cabbagetown, a renovated textile mill community surrounded by restored millworker shotgun houses. Inman Park, Atlanta’s first planned suburb, features restored Victorian mansions including the home of Coca-Cola’s founder. Grant Park, the city’s oldest park, is home to Zoo Atlanta and a large collection of Victorian and Craftsman homes.
