Atlanta’s Thai scene isn’t huge, but it’s full of spots that really get the flavors right. I’ve spent more than a few evenings at Tasty Thai in Decatur, where the Pad See Ew is so good, it’s almost ridiculous. And don’t overlook Buford Highway if you’re in the mood to try something a bit off the beaten path,there’s always a place to scan the menu for something new or classic.

One thing I love? Many of these places keep their spice levels authentic, so don’t be shy about asking for the heat if that’s your thing. But if you’re new to Thai food, it’s OK to start mild,no need to sweat through dinner. When I’m craving a quick but satisfying meal, Thai Lao Kitchen in Midtown is my go-to. Their larb is a small but mighty dish worth trying, especially in warmer months when you want something fresh and zingy.

Pro tip: If you can, try to swing by on a weekday evening,weekends get crowded fast, especially at those spots everyone talks about. No one likes waiting, especially when you’ve already dreamed about that coconut soup.
